In conversation, Kai, Jan, Luisa and Jem found that their work all came to fruition through a similar lens – an admiration for their surrounding people and place, and the way we all move through those environments.

Sonder (first coined by John Koenig for his project, The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows) is a noun that refers to the profound realisation that every passerby is living a life as vivid, complex and real as your own.

Through painting, drawing and textiles, the exhibition reveals glimpses into those vivid lives lived by the artists and those that they observe.
